just breathe

You may not be able to the control the world, but you can control your breathing. And that alone could change your world.

– Unknown Yoga Instructor

My life has been more stressful lately than ever. And the reasons behind the stress are not exactly things I can control, but they are things I can work on finding solutions for.
Breathing helps….

My Technique

Take 3 very deep breaths.

With each breath keep sucking in just a little more air in- count to 8 seconds.

Then I let it out slowly- counting to 12 seconds.

Wait 5 seconds before next big breath.

That alone changed my day.

Digestion and Detox

I am looking for some good yoga poses that help aid in digestion and natural detox. I have been introducing a lot of newness into my diet and feel like I need to include some of those benefits into my practice.

Here I found a great step by step plan from Shape. This blog is pretty awesome too! Below are some of my favorite poses among the several out there.

Supta Matsyendrasana (Reclined Twist) The reclined twist stimulates the flow of fresh blood to your digestive organs, which in turn increases the health and functioning of your entire digestive system

Viparita Karani (Legs up the Wall) This helps to increase blood and lymph circulation. Fresh blood flows to the abdomen encouraging digestion and this pose also calms the nervous system.
Wide-legged Forward Fold with Twist: From a wide-legged forward fold, heel-toe feet wide, about three to four feet apart. Take left hand to right ankle or shin, reach right hand toward the ceiling, and lean back. Stay here or, if it would feel even better, bend right elbow, take hold of the top of left thigh, and lean back. Breathe for 5 deep breaths, then repeat on the other side.
Bow: Lie facedown, bend knees, and take hold of ankles. Press feet into hands, keeping knees hip-width apart, and lift chest off the ground. Stay here for 5 deep breaths. (If this is uncomfortable, locust is a great alternative.)

And just because I love the movie and this dress (and I love umbrellas):

Baby Feet

The best part of working in cosmetics is the opportunity to try new products. I will pretty much try anything if you tell me that the results will be amazing and more than worth the risk! Of course, I do my own research on the products and read reviews that are out online, but being a guinea-pig isnt’ a scary thing to me!

This past week I tried Baby Feet. The product claims that “Baby Foot is designed specifically to remove unwanted dead skin cells from your feet. It’s effective, effortless and very simply to use.” And well, they weren’t lying!

The socks are interesting, themselves, and they are filled with all of these vibrant, clean, and fresh ingredients that cool on your feet for 1 hour.

Within 3 days the peeling began! unfortunately, on the night of my power yoga class– eek! A little embarrassing and gross that layers of skin are sliding of my feet and onto my mat, but if the yogis in my class are true yogis’ their attention was not on my feet, but on their own mat! (Let’s hope!)

By day 6 the peeling took over my feet and, yet again, yoga was a bit of a challenge, but nothing stops me! I seriously think that at least a centimeter of skin came off. Scary, right!? But the results were baby soft. Brace yourself, this gallery is a bit close-up! Don’t judge me by my before pictures, please, I just happened to really need the product!
